OK, computers are working again and let’s get back at it.  A few days back, I asked you to make a list of weaknesses and then relate them to the your goals they would impact.   That should be where we left off.

The power of this exercise is that it brings the weaknesses to awareness and then comes all the solutions to get past them.  Usually we set a goal, put a date on it, and then we don’t do anything about it because these things are in the way.  But if we name them, and then address them and then have an accountability process for getting them done then they don’t stop us anymore.

So, if you haven’t fine tuned your weakness listing with your goals, please do that today and we will move on tomorrow with the introduction of the next exercise.

It has been a personal goal to keep the daily posts up to date on this blog and as you see, we failed on that one for yesterday.  Life hands us lemons from time to time, which I experienced this week with computer hardware and software.  The short story is after returning from a business trip on Monday evening, I have had very little connectivity with either one of my computers and have spent hours with IT folks getting back online and resolving the issues.

Yes, life can derail or slow down our progress from time to time, but only we can allow the stop signs to derail our goals.  So today we will be getting back at it.  I am hopeful you have been working on your exercises and moving forward working towards your goals.

We will get back on track with the Friday blog post.  Thanks for your understanding and your following.

You now have your list of weaknesses listed next to each of your goals.

Now it is time to come up with solutions to eliminating the weakness.  In the empty space you left to the right of your weakness, list steps you can take to move yourself closer to accomplishing the goal by eliminating the listed weakness.  Refer back to my illustration on the August 16 post if needed.

Do this for each goal and listed weakness.

Now that you have made your list of weaknesses,  take the next step and on a piece of paper list your goals you have written and leave room to the right of the goal and space between to list the weakness you have that is related to achieving that goal.  You may use a listed weakness more than once.

Please leave empty space to the right of each of your weakness statements

What follows is an example from my life so that you can see how to relate the weaknesses to your goals.

One of my professional goals is to fill our monthly Dreaminar events with 1001 attendees each month.

What weaknesses exist within you or the organization that would stop you from achieving that goal?

Lack of time and focus.  Putting off working on those things that are far off in the future – what is not immediately staring me in the face.

I don’t have a staff person dedicated to this project.  There is no point person who is being held accountable.  We don’t have a list of activities that need to be accomplished with timelines and milestones to be accomplished.  We haven’t assigned a budget or money to the marketing of the Dreaminars.

What is a solution that you could come up with that you could commit to doing that would overcome and handle this weakness?  It could be anything.  Hiring another person, making it a priority, having someone report to you every week on their progress.  Maybe this person doesn’t have to do it, but they are held accountable to make sure it gets done.  They can delegate tasks to someone and make sure it gets done.  What would be a good solution for lack of time and focus?

I could schedule a weekly planning meeting – talk about the do’s and priorities for that week.  I could create an affirmation to keep me on track like “I’m joyfully watching the number of enrollments in the monthly Dreaminars climb steadily and strong up the board to 1001.

I could create a master plan of all the to-dos that need to occur and that we need to put dates and ?  I could call a staff meeting to brainstorm all things that need to be done.

The power of this is that it brings the weaknesses to awareness and then comes all the solutions to get past them.  Usually we set a goal, put a date on it, and then we don’t do anything about it because these things are in the way.  But if we name them, and then address them and then have an accountability process for getting them done then they don’t stop us anymore.

What I want to do today is look specifically at what inside of you – for lack of a better term – what weaknesses you have, that are stopping you from taking action on your dreams.  Some examples, in my life, I don’t have good systems in place for getting things done, so that would be a weakness.  I tend to be afraid when it comes time to ask for things – that would be a weakness.  I over commit myself, so there is too much to do then and then I try to do it all – that is a weakness.  I’m afraid of imposing on people – that would be a weakness.  I don’t have a scheduling system that works – that would be a weakness.

These weaknesses are something that needs to get resolved, something we are going to need to overcome in order to get what we want.

Take a few minutes today to determine what some of these weaknesses are that have been or may hold you back in developing your dreams?

We have covered over the past few days being clear about what we want and then creating internal images and external pictures and affirmations for each of those things.

What we are going to focus on today – now that we are clear what we want and we have a way of impressing it on the unconscious – is the next thing we need to do to guarantee the successful manifestation of our goals.  So since you have been reading Jack Canfield’s book – “The Success Principles” you know that researchers have found that one thing more than anything else separates people who achieve their goals (the winners) from those that don’t (the losers).

When I ask that question of people who haven’t read the book, they usually say things like “Winners set goals and make plans.  Winners stay focused on their goals.  Winners write their goals down and review them.  Winners expect to win.  They think positively.  They don’t quit.”  These are all things that winners do indeed do.

I have answered this question with one of the best demonstrations that illustrates the difference between winners and losers in life, presented in Exercise 12 on the Workamper Dreamers website.  Take time to experience the exercise by going to http://dreamers.workamper.com and we will pick up tomorrow.

I am taking a sidebar today to respond to a few email questions that maybe questions you have thought, but didn’t take the time to ask.

These are good questions and I can certainly understand why someone visiting this blog may have:

Question 1:  I have just found your blog and it looks like I am too late to begin the process?  You started without me so to speak.

The development of your Dreams is an ongoing process and yes we started this blog and the Dream Development process June 2, 2009.  The awesome thing about the Internet and this blog is the flexibility it provides  us.  You can start at the beginning and go at your own pace.

Here is how you do it:

1)  Go to http://dreamers.workamper.com/blog

2)  On the right column you will see the Dreamer Calendar.  At the bottom of the calendar you should see <<Jul .  That means the calendar is representing the current month of August and to go back a month you need to click that link.  That will take you back to July and you can click on any date for the posting of that day.

3)  Click the <<Jul and it will take you back to the June calendar which was the month we started the blog.  The first post was June 2, 2009.

4)  This will provide you the ability to read all of the posts and to board the train at the station, instead of attempting to jump on as it is moving down the track, so to speak.

Question 2:  Do I need to do the Dreamer Exercises on the Workamper Dreamers website?

It is simple; no you don’t, if you do not wish to develop your Dreams!  Anything worthwhile takes work and dedication.  If you never want to get past the wishing stage and bring you Dreams to fruition, it isn’t necessary.

If you are serious about developing your Dreams, it will take effort and dedication on your part, which means getting into the exercises and developing the steps that will lead you to your Dreams.  More specifically, providing you a process and procedure to begin and experience the Workamping lifestyle.

To experience the Dreamer Exercises will require you to take a step of faith and become a Workamper Dreamer subscriber.  The exercises are on the subscriber side of the web site.  The $37 subscription provides you lifetime access to the Dreamers site and when you are ready a one year electronic WorkamperPlus subscription to our parent website Workamper.com that includes our bi-monthly magazine and all of the tools we provide Workampers who wish to learn even more about the awesome Workamper lifestyle.   I forgot to tell you,  $37 is what we charge for the one year WorkamperPlus subscription without access to the Dreamers website.  So, as a bonus we are going to assist you in developing your Dream and when you are ready,  you can activate the Workamper.com subscription on your schedule.

Question 3:  Does Workamper News, the parent company of http://dreamers.workamper.com and the Workamper Dreamers Blog actually do the hiring of Workampers.

This is a very good question and one often asked.  The answer is no.  For now nearly 22 years we have served in a capacity of connecting great people with great jobs across the country.  We produce a bi-monthly magazine available in hardcopy and electronic media.  Our presence on the Internet is through our websites Workamper.com and http://dreamers.workamper.com .

Over the years our company has grown,  providing you with tools to learn about Workamping; to find opportunities that interest you; an online resumé to easily apply with the advertising employer, and so much more.

To learn more about us, visit our web site:  www.workamper.com and click the Workamper tab on the left side.  Take some time to peruse the site as you will find a fair amount of education available for the non-subscriber.  The meat of the site is only available to subscribers, so when you are ready you will need to become either a WorkamperPlus electronic or regular subscriber.  The difference being: electronic subscribers access everything online, including the bi-monthly magazine.  Regular subscribers receive the hard copy of the magazine via USPS.

So, hopefully if you had the above questions, my input has been of assistance.  It all really comes back to Principle #1 in Jack Canfield’s book – “The Success Principles” which we are using as a study guide for the Workamper Dreamers program.  Principle # 1 says – “Take 100% responsibility for your life!”  There has been no better time than today.

We have worked on affirmations in the past and hopefully you have your affirmations written down, but you may not have been doing much with them up until this point.  If you don’t have them, please review back into the blog posts to where we discussed affirmations and accomplish Dreamer Exercise 8 on the Workamper Dreamers website.

What I would like you to do is take your affirmations and read them one at a time, close your eyes and spend a few seconds visualizing them.

On your own today, look at each one, say it silently or out loud and then close your eyes for about 30 seconds and see it as if it were.

Dreamer Exercise 12 on the Workamper Dreamers website will take you deeper into understanding of this process.

The core of this program is setting goals, affirming and visualizing them, and then taking action until they are complete.  The actions alone are not enough, because the action alone will taper off without the discipline of the affirmation and the viewing of your Vision Board every day.  This is one way to keep your vision of your goals alive – just put your Vision Board where you are going to see it every day – on your refrigerator, bedroom wall, next to your desk, or office door.  So don’t just stick it in your closet.

And remember to put your affirmations where you will bump into them every day and then visualize each one as already complete.  You can make them into a screen saver or a popup window on your computer, or type them up and laminate it and stick it on your refrigerator.  The more you say them, the more they become real to your unconscious mind.  You are fighting-some of you- 20 to 40 plus (whatever number is appropriate for you) years of programming.  The point is you’ve seen the world through a certain lens of who you are and how you are in the world and what’s possible for you to achieve, and you can’t change that in 60 minutes.

It takes a lot of consistent repetition over time.  Repetition is the key.  That is why when we were in elementary school we repeated 2×2 is 4 and 2×3 is 6 over and over and over until it became part of us.  Just like we do our times tables hundreds of times before we memorize them, we have to do our affirmations over and over until our unconscious accepts the reality that we will have these things.  It also sends out thought waves that attract these things to us.  The more we think about it, the more we attract it – good or bad.  So, I really want to encourage you, invite you to say them out loud, with enthusiasm then close your eyes and see the visualization of the result – at least twice every day.  So let’s practice right now…
