Dear Dreamer,

I want to share with you first couple of pages of “You2” by Price Pritchett.  The author does an amazing job of setting the tone for this book with these first paragraphs.

The following is taken as a direct quote from the author:

“ A True Story…I’m sitting in a quiet room at the Millcroft Inn, a peaceful little place hidden back among the pine trees about an hour out of Toronto.  It’s just past noon, late July, and I’m listening to the desperate sounds of a life-or-death struggle going on a few feet away.

There’s a small fly burning out the last of its short life’s energies in a futile attempt to fly through the glass of the windowpane.  The whining wings tell the poignant story of the fly’s strategy – try harder.

But it’s not working.

The frenzied effort offers no hope for survival.  Ironically, the struggle is part of the trap.  It is impossible for the fly to try hard enough to succeed at breaking through the glass.  Nevertheless, this little insect has staked its life on reaching its goal through raw effort and determination.

Across the room, ten steps away, the door is open.  Ten seconds of flying time and this small creature could reach the outside world it seeks.  With only a fraction of the effort now being wasted, it could be free of this self-imposed trap.  The breakthrough possibility is there.  It would be so easy.

Why doesn’t the fly try another approach, something dramatically different?  How did it get so locked in on the idea that this particular route, and determined effort, offer the most promise for success?  What logic is there in continuing, until death, to seek a breakthrough with “more of the same”?

No doubt this approach makes sense to the fly.  Regrettably, it’s an idea that will kill.

“Trying harder” isn’t necessarily the solution to achieving more.  It may not offer any real promise for getting what you want out of life.  Sometimes, in fact, it’s a big part of the problem.

If you stake your hopes for a breakthrough on trying harder than ever, you may kill your chances for success.”  Price Pritchett

The author has set the stage for what will be for most readers a required paradigm shift.  A new mindset,  if accepted and implemented can and has accelerated people’s lives to what the author calls a “squaring effect”.  The premise for the book title.

So over the coming weeks we will dig into how your dreaming process of living the Workamping lifestyle may benefit from the teaching of this author.

You can find this book on the recommended reading list to the right.  Get the book and read it through a couple of times.

Until next time…

Dear Dreamer,

I hope you have enjoyed the Go-Giver book and by this time you have read it through a couple of times.  If not, it would be well worth your dream development time to do so.

As time moves forward and you continue to ponder your dream, I encourage you to reflect on the various topics and ideas that we discuss on this blog and relate them to dream of living the Workamping lifestyle.  As I have mentioned many times, these concepts and ideas, theories, and much more apply to all things in life, not just the dream to one day live the Workamper lifestyle.

If you are like most folks, and that includes this author, your dreams always seem to be bigger than what you have time for each day.  It was with this thought, that the book You Squared (You2) by Price Pritchett, P.H.D. caught my attention.  He talks about taking a Quantum Leap breakthrough in your performance.  I don’t know about you, but the idea of a Quantum Leap sounds pretty awesome to me.

If you are like the majority of us, we go about our lives day to day and hopefully we are setting goals and working towards them, but that all take time, or so it seems.  What Price Pritchett is talking about in this book is “making a quantum leap – going from you to you2 and accomplishing far more, in less time, with only a fraction of the effort you’ve been giving.”

Dr. Pritchett outlines a method to take a leap in your performance through methods that are going to make you think, and yes will cause you to doubt the authors validity.  Even though if you have been reading this blog very long, you know that I believe in the Laws of the Universe and you will find that what Dr. Pritchett is basing his book upon are these laws.

You will find this book to be an easy one evening read that will get your mind moving in directions that you may never have thought possible before.  Imagine, moving towards your dream of living the Workamper lifestyle with less effort just for starters!  Most dreams seem like they will require work, and that is not the premise that Price Pritchett utilizes in his book.

I encourage you to order You2 from Amazon, (you will find it on the resource section to the right) and get ready for a very interesting time of determining how you can develop your Quantum Leap towards your dream to live the Workamping lifestyle.

Until next time…

Hello Dreamer,

For a change, I writing this post early this morning right before it is due to be posted.  Yes, I am running a bit behind schedule this week.  It has been a very busy week, as most of them are anymore!  I love it though and you won’t hear me complain about how much work I have to do.  :-)

During this month of September I have been sharing with you the five Laws from the book the Go-Giver.  By this time it is my hope that you have placed your hands on a copy of the book and read it a couple of times.   These five simple laws are very straight forward and hold such practical advice and direction for our lives.  I mentioned that I am busier than ever and when I reflect upon the volume of things to be done each week and month I realize the value of what I’m providing to others.  Yes, the Law of Compensation is at work and as I stop watching for the dollars they find their way into my business.  As I develop more programs like the New Club Workamper program and soon to develop Workamper Employers Association, I am working to help as many thousands of people as possible through my influence.  As you have gotten to know me through this blog, it is my hope that you can feel how dedicated I am to helping you experience your dream of living the workamping lifestyle one day.  And yes, lastly I am staying open to the giving of others and being willing to accept their reciprocation.

What I have just done in the above lengthy paragraph with reference to my life, I would ask you to sit down and think about the five laws of Value, Compensation, Influence, Authenticity and Receptivity are at work in your life.  Take a looking glass look into your life and see if you are applying these laws.  If you find you are, that is awesome!  If you find you are not, don’t attempt to apply all five in one day.  Take one a day, or even one a week and begin to make a conscious effort.  See what it does for your life.

You may be like one of my readers who wrote the other day asking why I spent so much time on the “psychology stuff” (their words)?  It is easy to talk about the mechanics of the Workamping lifestyle, and the how to, but you must be ready to actually live the dream that one day can and will become your future reality.  This is all about you, and your mindset.  So as I told the dear reader, you must understand yourself, your dream, for it to have strength to become a reality.

As we move into fall, with this being the first day of fall, we will continue our discussion and study of dreaming about the Workamping lifestyle.  If you haven’t taken the steps to become a Workamper Dreamer subscriber yet, it is time you took that step.  It is an easy one.  Go to http://dreamers.workamper.com and become a lifetime Dreamer subscriber for just $42.  This also includes a Bonus one year WorkamperPlus Green subscription you can activate when you are ready for it.

Moving forward to next week I begin sharing a new book with you by Price Pritchett, titled “You2”.  It is actually You Squared; I couldn’t get the superscript to work this morning.  This is the next book for your library and while you are buying it get his sequel titled “The Quantum Leap Strategy.”  You will find both of these titles by looking on our Recommended Reading display to the right.  Order yours today.

Enjoy the first day of fall!

Until next time.

We previously discussed the Law of Value, the Law of Compensation, the Law of Influence and the Law of Value.  Four of the five laws that are the basis for a wonderful little book called “The Go-Giver” by Bob Burg and David Mann.

The Law of Value as you recall stated that “Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment.”  Simply put, you must be more concerned with giving than receiving.  Stop worrying about what you are going to get in other words.

The second law is “The Law of Compensation – Your income is determined by how many people you serve and how well you serve them.”  So you see we are not saying you won’t be compensated.  The amount of compensation is determined by how much value you provide and to what quantities of people experience it.

The third law is “The Law of Influence – Your influence is determined by how abundantly you place other peoples interest first.”

The fourth law – “The Law of Authenticity – The most valuable gift you have to offer is yourself.”

The fifth and last of the five laws – “The Law of Receptivity – the key to effective giving is to stay open to receiving.  We as humans sometimes experience difficulty with acceptance of appreciation, or additional compensation, or gifts, or whatever it maybe.  This is a very healthy way to look at this subject.  If you enjoy giving, why do you believe you have the right to stifle someone else’s joy of giving,  just because you are a poor receiver.  This willingness to receive and be receptive ties into the law of compensation.  The volume of people that you serve and serve well will in turn ignite their desire to show their appreciation to you.  It is not wrong to be receptive to their generosity.  They key is to not become a person that is falsely showing value and caring in order to be compensated.

Be real!  Let your light shine and respect these five laws and your light will shine brighter than ever before.  You will truly experience strtospheric levels of the Workmper lifestyle that very few will have the opportunity to experience.

Until next time…

We previously discussed the Law of Value and the Law of Compensation and the Law of Influence.  Three of the five laws that are the basis for a wonderful little book called “The Go-Giver” by Bob Burg and David Mann.

Today we look at the fourth law – “The Law of Authenticity – The most valuable gift you have to offer is yourself.”  So many people have the attitude and feeling that they don’t have anything to offer of value if they don’t have a certain educational background, or work history.  This is of value, don’t get me wrong, but in the world of Workamping it is not as important as being real!  By this I mean not putting on a façade or trying to be someone, or something you are not.  So no matter what your life experience, you have value and you have something to offer the world.  Of all of the laws I see this one having more impact upon reaching stratospheric heights with regard to your Workamping lifestyle.  Be yourself and let your light shine.  You have value to offer, and don’t be disillusioned into thinking otherwise.  If someone has kicked your cat (put you down) in the past, it is time to step up and take stock of just what you have to offer the world as you live the Workamping lifestyle.

This particular law I believe is of vital importance to you as you consider living the Workamper lifestyle.  Many tell me they don’t feel they are equipped, or have the experience necessary to fill employer’s needs in the Workamping environments.  That in most cases is not true.  The key is taking a close look at yourself and determining what you are good at; what you enjoy doing; and what you would like to do.  Develop a list and then be real and go after the type of Workamping opportunities that fit you and allow you to be authentic.  It will take you places you never thought were possible before in your life.

Until next time …

We previously discussed the Law of Value and the Law of Compensation, two of the five laws that is the basis for a wonderful little book called “The Go-Giver” by Bob Burg and David Mann.

The Law of Value as you recall stated that “Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment.”  Simply put, you must be more concerned with giving than receiving.  Stop worrying about what you are going to get in other words.

The second law is “The Law of Compensation – Your income is determined by how many people you serve and how well you serve them.”

The third law is “The Law of Influence – Your influence is determined by how abundantly you place other peoples interest first.”  This is not typical in our society.  We are driven more by what’s in it for me?  This law I believe parallels the biblical golden rule of doing unto others as you would have them do unto you.  If you place the other person’s interests ahead of your own, especially when you are working for an employer, or serving a customers need, it will stand out, and more importantly the person experiencing it will sense that you care about their needs more than your own.

If you are in a Workamping position that is sales related or service related you will ultimately experience increased compensation in many forms with the stepped up value you provide.

As we continue through these five laws, I would encourage you to get your own copy of The Go-Giver and read it or listen to the audio version.  You will easily find them on the resource section to the left and be able to order them quickly from Amazon.com.

Dear Dreamer,

I am taking a holiday break today and encourage you to do so, if possible.

Today we honor labor in America.  We are fortunate to live in a country where we have the freedom to choose the type of labor we enjoy.  Not every country has the freedom for sure!

So today as you reflect upon these words and enjoy your holiday!  Give a shout out of “Thanks” to America for providing all of us with the option to live our dreams.

Until later…

Dear Dreamer,

My hope for you is that you have acquired a copy of “The Go Giver” and have read it.  Or, you have purchased the audio book and listened to the story of Joe and the Pendar, known as the Chairman.

The heart of the message from “The Go Giver” is based around the secret of “Giving” being anyone’s key to success in life.  Success in anything you wish to attain in life.  In the case of our blog and subject we will relate the Workamping lifestyle.

This little story will share the five laws that will help us understand how GIVING can be so key with respect to your future success.  This especially applies to your future Workamping success.

We begin with “The Law of Value.”  The author defines the law this way – “Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment.”

In the world we live in, this is not the norm.  The common attitude is, how much will I receive from you, and what do I have to give to get it!  I am not saying that you shouldn’t ask to be paid, but it shouldn’t be the first question, or even a question that is asked until later.

Often I hear from employers who state that they have stopped hiring Workampers because they are all about take, take, take and have very little give.  I am saddened when I hear this.   I know it is not true of every Workamper, and the employer has generalized due to a few bad experiences.  They just haven’t had the opportunity to employ Workampers who understand the Law of Value.  There are many who do!

So this little Law is very simple, and I can tell you from thousands of experiences with Workampers that providing more value than what is expected will take you much further than, just enough to get along.

Exceed people’s expectations and you will receive more in return.  Everyone equates more with money, but that may not be the case.  There are many other rewards in life that do not involve money.

Does this mean you give in order to receive?  That is not what the law says!  You give because your enjoy giving.  As Ernesto in the book exclaimed “it’s not a strategy, it’s a way of life” that can change your life.

Through the years and many visits with thousands of Workampers one of the key elements that Workampers tell me they receive from living the Workamping lifestyle relates to the hundreds of relationships they develop.  Through giving of themselves they have had the opportunity to travel America and live in many different communities.  To have the opportunity to meet and develop close relationships that will last the remainder of their lives.

The Law of Value – Your true work is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment.

Until next time…
