Go after your Dreams as if it were IMPOSSIBLE to fail.  This is the a great philosophy everyone should use when thinking about their dreams.  If you really think about it, what have you got to loose if you were to adopt this attitude?

What if you adopted this philosophy, what is the best that could happen?  You will realize that anything is possible and the sky’s the limit.  You will achieve your Dreams and will begin to understand that you are the Captain of Your Ship and you are in control of your destiny.

What if you adopted this philosophy and you continued to fail?  First of all I don’t believe you would continuously fail if you truly adopted this philosophy in your life.  But if you did,  and still continued to fail, would you be any worse off, than if you didn’t try and still failed, or actually you wouldn’t know you had failed, because you would have never tried.

There are people who are afraid to Dream!   They don’t want to experience disappointment!  That is such a sad situation if you really think about it.  The true disappointment comes at the end of one’s life when you look back and think, “Could Have, Should Have, and Would Have!”  That is true disappointment.

Why not adopt the philosophy that all things are possible when we set our minds to it.  The sky is the limit and we can achieve what we desire to achieve, if we want it bad enough.

So go after your Dreams and believe that it is impossible to fail.  If you experience failure, dust yourself off and begin anew.  Learn from the failure and let it become a stepping stone to do it differently next time that will lead you to success and closer to achieving your Dream.

This applies to everything in life, and especially the Dream of living the Workamping lifestyle.  Many see the Workamping lifestyle as a lofty dream that isn’t attainable.  They think “How could I have such a dream?”  “Who do I think I am to be able to live such a dream?”

Do you see the difference in how we should think about our Dreams?  Take the philosophy we are discussing and turn the above negative statements around and begin feeding your subconscious with believable programming.   Take “How could I have such a dream?” and turn it into “I am living and loving the Workamping lifestyle each and every day!”  “I am worthy of all that life holds for me, and the Workamping lifestyle is one of the gems life is providing me!”

See the difference!  Do you think your mind will notice the difference?  You bet!  So begin today to change your philosophy, if it needs it.  Go after your Dreams as if it were IMPOSSIBLE to fail.

Until next time….

Each week as I work to develop content for this blog and make it meaningful to all readers, I am struck with the realization that the vast majority of human beings live life with no goals!  This statement may not apply to you, and if so, that is great!  You are among the small percentage of folks who are living life on purpose!

Now I don’t say these words to be critical of you or anyone else.  When I make these statements I visualize myself pointing my finger at someone else, I also realize there are four fingers pointing back at me.  So my point is that we all must take daily stock of whether we are living life on purpose, or just letting life happen to us!  It is not your responsibility to worry about the other person, but to take a make a close inspection of yourself.

With regard to your Dreams!  Dreams are goals you have for future experiences.  They can and will happen if you develop a plan and then work that plan towards developing the outcome.  I have seen it happen in my life, and I know it can happen in yours.

So what is it that gets in our way?  LIFE pretty much each and every day gets in our way.  We become so busy living our lives that we don’t spend much time planning and developing our futures.  We are not living life on PURPOSE.  As my long time readers will recall I have used the phrase “We are human doings, instead of human beings!”

When I look at my goals and then I think about how time I have just spent the past week, the last day, the last hour working on them, I realize how easy it is to fall into the trap of being Human Doings!  Oh, how I long for each of us to have the ability to continue to reach for our Dreams and to experience success.

So what can we do to help this situation?  We must continue to stay focused, not just once a week, or when you have time to think about your Dreams!  They must become so important in our lives that they are on the top of the daily play list of activities.  They become like an addiction to your spirit to one day reach and experience.

This applies to anything you have a Dream towards experiencing.  Living the Workamping lifestyle, or building your own business, riding your bicycle across America, whatever is on your Dream list!

So begin this day to renew your Dreams if they have faded into your busy life of Human Doing!  Re-kindle your goals today and re-start your engine!  If they haven’t add another log to the fire of desire and step up your Dream planning a notch.

Thanks for reading today!  Today’s post was just as much for the author as it was for you the reader.

Until next time…

You Shine Brighter When the Spotlight is on You! – Part Two

By Steve Anderson, Editor, Workamper News, Inc.

Here’s another mindset shift secret – It is a disservice not to give the employer what they need so that they can decide right now while they’re with you.  If you have done a good job of personally marketing yourself to the employer, they are not going to need more time to make a decision.  That small voice they use to make a decision will be telling them “Yes” I want to hire this Workamper.  I will roll out the red carpet for this person!”
So another of the secret strategies to getting the employer to roll out their red carpet to you, the #1 thing you need to focus on when developing your personal marketing strategy is that you play as important of a roll in the hiring dance as the employer.  Actually if you develop your strategy to the level that I know you can, you will make it very easy for you and the employer to make a decision regarding you coming to work for the employer, and the employer making you the offer.

Ok, so how do you craft your personal marketing strategy that will let your light shine brighter to employers than the next person applying for the same position?  What do you have to offer the employer that the next Workamper applicant doesn’t?

If I were to ask you to write down on a piece of paper you would probably list things like experience, education, length of time you can stay, when you are available, etc. You are listing what the employer may benefit from, by hiring you.  They are experience elements that are important, but most people believe it is solely their past experiences that provide the bridge for that next employer’s interest.

So here is another secret that will make a big difference in how bright your light shines!  The right place to focus your offer is not on your experiences, but on the Outcome or the transformation that will happen for the employer as a result of hiring you to work in their business.

Your Offer = Outcome + Your Experience.

What I’m saying here is that what you have to offer (your offer), is a combination of the outcome or the transformation that you provide plus the work experience that you bring to the job.  This is what you’re literally are marketing to the Workamper employer.

Understanding this secret will differentiate you from every other Workamper applicant that is in competition with you for the opportunity.  When you are speaking to an employer, the mindset you want to have and the weight at which you want to give your focus – focus 90% of the words that come out of your mouth on the outcome that’s going to happen for the employer when they engage your work experience.  So when you are talking with the employer, you should talk about 10% of the time about your past work experience.  So 10% will be those things that you have done and how they will support the outcomes you will provide the employer.  The other 90% should be verbal pictures to assist the employer seeing you in the role they have to fill.

Are you beginning to see how a more targeted personal marketing strategy can and will make a difference in your future experiences.  This is what I mean when I say you can begin to eliminate the chance from the hiring process.

These are just a few of the concepts that will assist you in developing your personal marketing strategy.  I encourage you if you have not to get involved in the Workamper Marketing 101 course.  The course is online and you have full access to it as a Club Workamper member.

So until next time, turn up the candle power on your beacon and “Let Your Light Shine!”

As a Club Workamper member you will be learning and implementing strategies that will cause Workamper employers to draw more of their attention to you.   You will learn how to utilize strategies that will “Let Your Light Shine Brighter” than other applicants vying for the same Workamping opportunities.

At this point in history with a difficult economy and higher un-employment rates it is becoming more critical to your future success to learn how to market yourself more effectively.  During a previous webinar event titled “5 Simple Secrets that will have Workamper Employers Rolling out the Red Carpet to You!” I shared introductory subjects and concepts that will brighten your light and cause you to shine.  The goal of this event was to provide insight on how to “Let Your Light Shine Brighter” and to introduce the Workamper Marketing 101 course.

The secrets that were shared during this webinar will be new to some and a good review for others.  Through the coming paragraphs I will highlight the key secrets along with providing you a better understanding of how I know these secrets will make a difference in your marketing.

I was the Human Resource Director for Adventureland Amusement Park, in Altoona, IA for 15 years.  During this time I introduced to the concept of Workamping.

What I learned during my initials years about Workamping was just the beginning of something much bigger to come.

It was through the last 10 years of my career at Adventureland that the Workamper program started to grow and prosper.  Through my testing and experience I learned a thing or two about Workampers and how they market themselves to employers.

So over the coming paragraphs I will share with you some of the secrets I learned, but also encourage you to view the webinar that was recorded and is available on the Club Workamper website.

The first secret I want to talk about is the “come-from”.  I want to start with the mindset because without a correct mindset shift, all of the strategies will not be as effective.

The “come-from” with respect to developing your personal marketing strategy is something that I call – partnership from the start.  This is what creates the power behind your marketing strategy and that is – that employers are your partners.  You’re their partner and need to develop that mindset.

Now the first premise of partnership from the start is called committed, but not attached.  What you’re committed to is that the employer makes a decision while they’re with you.  You’re committed that the employer has all of the information that they need, that they are in-touch with their own needs and that they can put those together and decide if you are someone they want to move forward with.  This was the position I finally got to in my recruiting career.  I realized after many thousands of interviews that there were applicants who made that extra effort to make sure I got to know them in a way that would be beneficial to me, for my thoughts and feelings and ultimately the making of an employment offer.  Then there were others who made no effort to help me understand who they were, and many times I would just give up and you guessed it, move on to the next applicant.

Now – the not-attached part.  What you can’t be attached too and this might be a surprise to some of you – you can’t be attached to what decision the employer makes.  So believe it or not, you can’t be attached that they decided yes they are interested, or no they are not interested.  You must be committed that they have enough information and input providing them clarity that they are or they are not moving forward with an offer.   If the answer is no, you go on to seek out other opportunities to fill your future Workamper experience.  So you must be committed to the employer making a decision, not attached to what that decision is.  I know this is a bit different, especially if you really want the job in that particular geographic location, or the business environment.

Thanks for reading….

Part Two on Thursday’s post.

Hello Dreamer,

Over the past couple of weeks I have been on the road for business.  Last week I had the awesome experience of participating in a seminar event in Las Vegas.  Michael Gerber, the author of the E-Myth and Mark Victor Hansen, co-author with Jack Canfield of the Chicken Soup for the Soul books were both on the platform.

It was a phenomenal experience and the information they shared was just absolutely fantastic!  Can you tell I really enjoyed it!

Michael Gerber’s books based around the Entrepreneurial Myth are very sound with regard to understanding what it means to be an Entrepreneur and why so many people who think they are, really are not.  The reason I decided to share this with you today has to do with Michael’s Dreamer events that he has held over the last 5 years.  These are events where he brings people together as a group for what he calls “a butt kicking” with regard to being Entrepreneurs.  They are three day events and very intense.  I would like to attend, but it just won’t fit into my schedule, and this is the last one he is holding ever.  He has promised his wife and he says he has never broken a promise made to his wife.

During this event he works with the participants to gain a real understanding of why they want to be Entrepreneurs and to develop a real understanding of what it means to build and work on a business, instead of work in your business.  Many Entrepreneurs spend most of their time working long hours in their business and soon burn out, especially if business is not rewarding them for their efforts.

Michael explained that Dreams many times are DOA within one year because the new business owner doesn’t understand that developing their dream isn’t just about starting the business.  That is what most people believe, and that is why so many small businesses begin and die every year.

This entire premise of why Entrepreneurs Dreams die so quickly can be related to the Dreams so many have to become Workampers.  I have mentioned in earlier posts for you long time readers that you must not get caught up in the doing, but stay in touch with the being.  You don’t find the ultimate happiness in the lifestyle if you spend your precious time just doing Workamping.  You are excited about the dream now, you need to learn and grow and develop the paradigm that will allow you to be a Workamper.  The process of being a Workamper will bring far more joy, than just doing.  I spend a fair amount of time in the Workamper Marketing 101 course talking about doing vs. being that I am currently teaching.  If you haven’t check it out go to:  www.workamper.com/fivesecrets

The second presenter was Mark Victor Hansen.  This was my first experience meeting and listening to Mark.  I have worked with Jack Canfield, his partner for the past three years as his men-tee, and he my mentor.

Mark is delightful and had as his primary presentation objective that everyone has at least one book within them.  You should consider writing at least one book in your lifetime.  This presentation was one of the key reasons I attended this conference.  I have had many folks ask why I have not written a book about the Workamping lifestyle for Workampers and also one for employers with regard to recruiting, hiring and maintaining a quality Workamper program.

You are going to be one of the first to know that I am going to do just that.  I am working with Mark to develop my first manuscript by year’s end.  I can’t give you any further details, other than I am declaring that I am working on it, and we have taken the first steps.  It is exciting and scary all at the same time.  It will definitely provide a Terror Barrier that I have never penetrated, but I  have confidence that with Marks assistance, I will.

So, stay tuned and I will keep you posted on my journey.  You see we all have dreams, no matter what role you are playing in life.  How are you doing on your dream to live the Workamper lifestyle?  Are you making progress with your education?  Have you at the very minimum become a Workamper Dreamer subscriber?  If not, do it today by going to:  http://dreamers.workamper.com .

Hello Dreamer,

I hope you have taken the opportunity to read through the book “You2”,  at least once by this time.  Our author Price Pritchett, implies in You2 that an explosive jump in performance can take you far ahead of the next logical step.  He is saying that you don’t have to continue down the path taking one step after another.  That you could possibly skip some of those steps and take a giant leap closer to your goal!

This is a pretty wild sounding idea already and then the author goes on to say that this leap came come without additional, or any effort at all.  This is definitely sounding like he is really out there!  Or is he?

Quantum leaps are not in everyone’s vocabulary.  You don’t hear them talking about it on the evening news.  The idea of making big jumps up your achievement ladder seems pretty wild to the common sense thinker.

Price Pritchett states the following:  “You2, the quantum leap strategy, can deliver those special dreams and ambitions that you instinctively feel should be yours.  But the breakthrough demands a radical departure from some of your habits.”

You may think I have gone off of my rocker with this author, and this book.  I believe it is always good to stretch your mind into areas where you haven’t gone before.  This is most likely one of those for most of you.

I would ask you to pose this question to yourself?  Just because it seems so far out there, does that make it impossible?  Think about some of the impossible things that have taken place just during your lifetime!

Let your mind give this concept some thought over the coming days.

Until next time…

What is a Quantum Leap?

Hello Dreamer,

Last time we mentioned Quantum Leap,  but really didn’t define it!  This term is a bit heady and not one commonly used due to its scientific nature.  Quantum physicists came up with the term and have defined it as “the explosive jump that a particle of matter undergoes in moving from one place to another.”

In simplified parlance it can be defined as, “taking a risk, going off into an uncharted territory with no guide to follow”.

What is of interest with consideration of Quantum physics and your dream about experiencing the Workamper lifestyle, is that Physicists say that particles make these “jumps” without identifiable effort and without covering all the bases in between start and finish.

So the question this raises:  “Is it possible for human beings to do something very similar to what the particle does with regard to our own experience and performance.

This is definitely not your commonly accepted train of thought!  Most would tell you the fly discussed in the True Story at the beginning of the book was on the right path.  Continue to try and try harder until you break through to success.

That is not what our author is saying about Quantum Leaps!  Nor what he would he say about you taking small steps towards entering the Workamping lifestyle.

Until next time…

Hello Dreamer,

In my last post I shared with you the true story about the fly from Price Pritchett’s book, “You2”.  This simple little story has a very strong message.  You will recall the fly was spending it last hours of life working harder and harder in one futile way to change his options.  When all he would have had to do is fly a few short feet across the room through the open door.

The premise that the author shares with this little story is that trying harder, especially with the methods you may have been using for possibly years isn’t the solution to achieving more.  Trying harder, seemingly the logical thing to do, does not offer real promise for getting what you want.  As the author states, “Sometimes, in fact, it’s a big part of the problem”.

So what does this have to do with you and your dream to live the Workamping lifestyle?  Often I hear from dreamers who tell me that they have to have everything just right before they can begin living the Workamper lifestyle.  Life experiences happen and before you know it years have flown by and often the original dream has faded or died.  Similar to the fly, they could have possibly stepped back and taken a look around for an alternate path that may have allowed them to enter the lifestyle before they perceived it was too late; life could have turned out differently.

The coming days we are going to share more of Price Pritchett’s book “You2” and get into his Quantum Leap philosophy and apply it to your dream of entering and living the Workamper lifestyle.

If you haven’t gotten your copy of “You2”, please do and read it through a couple of times as we get to know the author over the coming weeks.

Until later…
