Napoleon Hill discusses in his timeless work, “Think and Grow Rich” the symptoms of the Fear of Poverty.  There are a number of symptoms that I encourage you to investigate as you either review this book, or read it for the first time.

I would like to touch on two of the symptoms.  One in this post and one in my following post.  These two symptoms are ones I have struggled with through the years and my words may resonate with you.

The symptom of “Over-caution.”    This is so common in our society today!  All of these symptoms are habits that we as individuals develop and as a nation have embraced.  They don’t do anyone much good, but still they’re reality, and are the basis of so many paradigms.    Over-caution causes us to look for the negative in everything instead of looking for the possibilities.  I don’t’ have to tell you what you hear more of on the broadcast news.  It is so prevalent because the news programs attract the viewers by providing such coverage.  I find it interesting that they make such a big deal out of a positive news story!

In our society it is easier to go with the negative flow and if you do and allow this habit to form, it can and will be a real dream killer.  There have been many dreamers who have started to evaluate their possibility of experiencing the Workamper lifestyle to let a few negative inputs cause them to give up on their dream.  They were toast before getting out of the gate.  They allowed others and their opinions to DOA their dreams based upon over-caution developed by the input of others.

Can you overcome over-caution?  Yes, you can break this habit, and it all begins with being open-minded enough to think for yourself and do your own evaluation.  I am not advocating making wrong decisions and not doing your homework.  I am advocating just the opposite!  Do your own research and evaluation and let your mind be open to the possibilities for your future.

Until next time…

In the last post you were introduced to the fear of poverty.    This is one of the most destructive fears and sadly it is simply a state of mind!  Yes it is all in our heads, nothing else!  This fear can destroy your dreams quicker than any of the other fears.

Fear of poverty paralyzes everything within us that we could possibly utilize to work towards our goals and dreams.  Napoleon Hill in his book titled “Think and Grow Rich” states “fear paralyzes the faculty of reason, destroys the faculty of imagination, kills off self-reliance, undermines enthusiasm, discourages initiative, leads to uncertainty of purpose, encourages procrastination, wipes out enthusiasm and makes self-control an impossibility.”  Can you see why you want to keep your mind clear of this fear?

Just look at each one of the elements that fear disables.  They are all key to developing your dream to live the Workamping lifestyle and ultimately experiencing it one day!  This fear no doubt should be at the top of the list as one of the six basic fears.  Hill places it at the top of the list because it is difficult to handle and to ultimately master.

Take a few minutes today and determine if you have a fear of poverty?  If you feel you do, take a few minutes and jot down reasons why you feel you have this fear.  Then take time over the coming days to analyze if your feelings are correct or not.

Until next time…

This fear of poverty, all be it one of the fears that is probably at the bottom of most people’s list, is one that comes up often when people discuss the Workamping lifestyle.  Hill tells you in his book “Think and Grow Rich” that “The two roads that lead to poverty and riches travel in opposite directions.  If you want riches, you must refuse to accept any circumstance that leads toward poverty.”  The word riches in our context should be aligned with the awesome experience of living the Workamping lifestyle.  The lifestyle truly does provide for a wealth of life experiences.

If you begin your education by worrying about whether you can make a living and maintain your livelihood while living the Workamping lifestyle, you are setting yourself up for failure.  Do you see how the “Fear of Poverty” thoughts are taking over your mind!

You must take a close look at the amount of desire you have to experience the Workamping lifestyle!  How strong is your desire?  Through the reading of this blog and the information you are receiving from Workamper Dreamers you are developing your own road map to experiencing a successful Workamper lifestyle.

Of course it is completely up to you!  You are the one who will ultimately think yourself into,  or out of the lifestyle!  Your state of mind must be created for you to be successful in transitioning into the Workamper lifestyle.

Over the coming weeks we will cover the “Six Ghosts of Fear” with regard to moving out of your comfort zone and into the Workamping lifestyle.  These Six Ghosts of Fear were covered by well know author Napoleon Hill in his works titled “Think and Grow Rich.”  This book is full of wisdom that can be applied by anyone who wishes to experience increase.  In our case we are relating it to moving away from the comfort zone of your current sticks and bricks existence and into the Workamping lifestyle.

Hill lists the Six Ghosts of Fear as:

“The fear of poverty –

The fear of criticism –

The fear of ill health –

The fear of loss of love of someone –

The fear of old age –

The fear of death.”

It is wise to understand that as long as indecision exists within your mind you will continue to experience doubt and this helps support your fears.    This process can happen very slowly and develop a strong hold in your mind without you realizing it.

Over the coming weeks we will discuss each fear and as Hill explains “Before we can master an enemy, we must know its name, its habits, and its place of abode.”

As we discuss these fears over the coming days you should analyze yourself and determine if any of them or all of them is holding you back in anyway.  Through this process of learning more about these fears you will begin to realize that all fears are nothing more than states of mind.  We have control over our state of mind and thus can direct our fears and eradicate them completely from our minds, if we choose to do so.

So many people have told me over the years that they thought about the Workamping lifestyle, but backed away from the dream for a number of reasons.   As I look back at these conversations, most of their reasons given were based around one of the fears listed above.

Hill goes onto state that through this explanation he is laying the foundation for why some people appear to be lucky while others do not.  “The fact may be explained by the statement that every mind, and with this control, obviously, every person may open his mind to the tramp thought impulses which are being released by other brains, or close the doors tightly and admit only thought impulses of his own choice.”

You must understand your fears before you can move through the Terror Barrier and into the freedom the Workamping lifestyle provides.  Return over the coming weeks as we discuss the upcoming fears.

Until next time…

“Face the thing you Fear, and Fear will leave you”

This quote sums it up!  When you think about your dream is there parts of it that just scares you when you think about it.  The idea of leaving your current comfort zone.  Possibly selling your home you have lived in for a number of years.  Leaving behind friends and family members who don’t understand why you want to leave them.

These are all viable fears and you must face them as the quote states, and when you do they will leave you.  You will conquer the fears and they will no longer scare you.  You will begin to make additional strides that will assist you in experiencing your future dream to see America one job at a time.

Take some time today to determine what it is is that is scaring you?  What do you fear?  Then take the next step to face your fears and you will be glad you did!

Until next time…

You may have experienced this feeling a time or two if you have been dreaming about and setting goals to experience your dream to begin the Workamping lifestyle.  You are developing your dream to move out of the safe comfort zone of your life and to experience new adventures and experiences.  This can make you feel like a fish may feel when he is out the water.   He has moved out of his comfort zone!

Just as the fish jumps to possibly advance himself up stream, or to a larger body of water, you must be willing to take the same type of leap.  You can’t play it safe and remain in your comfort zone if you desire to move forward with your dream.

So are you playing to win or lose?  Are you taking some risks to develop your dream that are taking you out of your comfort zone?   Or, are you playing at your dream?  Does it sound like it would be fun, but you are not willing to move out of your comfort zone (your safe pond) and take the risk to jump into the next one.

Where are you today?  Take a look at yourself in the mirror and give yourself a checkup.    Talk out loud to yourself about where you are with respect to your dream to experience the Workamping lifestyle.  Be honest with yourself and pat yourself on the back if it is a good conversation, or ask yourself what you are doing if it isn’t.

Until later…

While you are reading this blog post today, I am on my way to  experiencing a dream come true.  It has been one of my goals to return to my college campus of Boise State University and experience a college football game in the BSU blue turf stadium.  This is happening this coming weekend on Saturday, November 6th when Boise State  plays Hawaii on their home blue turf!  My wife Kathy Jo and I are flying to Boise today and will be in the crowd of thousands on Saturday.

It has been over 30 years since college graduation and I have talked about visiting the campus for a ball game for that length of time.  This year was different.  I decided many months ago to set a goal to experience a live game in the stadium with all of the BSU fans and make a memory.  All that was left then was working out the details.  Of course the details can many times be the dream killer!

My point in telling you this story, is help you see that you can set goals for the simplest things, even attending a college football game and then take the necessary steps to develop your goal and break it down into small chunks that when each chunk is realized you are experiencing your goals.

What are you doing with your goals today?  Have you written them down?  Have you taken the next step to break down each goal into chunks?  Once you have the chunks have you determined what you must do to successfully fulfill the chunk?  This is how you go about developing our goal list and then breaking it down into a manageable possibility.

All things are possible with the right amount of desire and effort and want to!

Have you written down your goals referring to living the Workamping lifestyle?  If not, today is a great day to begin!  As I have mentioned in earlier posts, beginning is half done!

Begin your dream list today, if you haven’t.  Revisit your dream list if you have previously started one and then abandoned it.  Or,  if you are hot on the trail of your dreams, take a moment to visualize yourself experiencing your dreams as if they were already reality.

Happy dreams to you!

Until later…

Have you begun to develop your visualization skills?  Do you know what I mean by visualization skills?  The process is very important to your future goal development and experiencing the lifestyle that you would like to develop.

Simply put, to visualize is to see what you want in your mind’s eye.  Some people call it their imagination, but it actually goes a step further than just your imagination.  When you visualize you are including an additional step with as much emotion as possible directed to the image you are visualizing.  You can just imagine your image and that is what we call imagination.

The mind is more receptive to images in our minds eye that are referred to with emotion and thoughts of desire towards the image.  This actually is a mind game where over time your mind begins to believe that you will meet your goal which is to experience whatever it is you have been visualizing.  When you see it with emotion and great desire…you will begin to believe that it is possible!

So today, ask yourself what you want?  How bad to you want it?  If you want something bad enough it is much easier to begin the visualization process and develop a burning desire within your subconscious mind that you will experience your visualized goal.

Begin today by thinking about what you see in your mind’s eye!  If you are not experiencing what you want in life, maybe your mind pictures are not what they should be?  Take a closer look today!

Until next time…
