Despite the perfect plan, you will confront obstacles along your journey.  Look at your roadblocks as opportunities to make things better.

You’ve heard that if you ever catch on fire, you should stop, drop and roll.  When you hit a roadblock, you should do the very same thing.

First, you STOP.   In order to evaluate your situation, it is necessary to brainstorm the way to get around, over or through your roadblock.

Next, you  DROP in order to find a solution to your problem. You are moving through your obstacle, not standing still. You move ahead cautiously.

Finally, you ROLL which is taking action to defeat your obstacle. It is your persistence that will lead to success.

All along, do not lose sight of your dreams.  Maintain a positive focus no matter what obstacles you have to face.  Keep taking those action steps to get closer to the fulfillment of your goals.

Finally, pat yourself on the back for successfully negotiating a difficult path.  Look back at all that you have accomplished with pride.

Until later…

When you come to a yellow light, what do you do?  Do you come to a complete stop? Sometimes, depending on your speed and what’s ahead or behind you, holding yourself back can cause an accident.  Sure, it is wise to be cautious.  Evaluate yourself to determine if you are being overly cautious.  Are you the type who always is cautious, for fear of seeming foolish or because someone else is critical, or the way is hard? You have to stop holding yourself back and go for your goal!

Do you talk to yourself?  I know I do.  You have to tell yourself “I’m not a quitter.”  There are times you will question yourself, your motivation, your timing.  If your goal is something you still are excited about accomplishing, then envision attaining it. That should provide the motivation.

Then, keep in mind, there is no PERFECT time. Get on with it! The sooner you take action, the sooner you will pick up speed, the sooner you will see where you need to make adjustments, the sooner you will hit your target.

Below is taken from Jack Canfield, in his book “The Success Principles”

It’s time to quit waiting for:

Perfection

Inspiration

Permission

Reassurance

Someone to change

The right person to come along

The kids to leave home

A more favorable horoscope

The new administration to take over

An absence of risk

Someone to discover you

A clear set of instructions

More self-confidence

The pain to go away

Get on with it already!

It’s easy to get bogged down in the researching and planning stage.  In fact, some people never move out of that stage! At some point, you really need to take action or you’ll never achieve your goal!  Develop a low tolerance for excessive planning!

After you have adequately researched your goal, things that seemed confusing will now become clearer.  Your path should be charted into an action plan.  Each person’s circumstances demand a different direction, but you have paved the way through careful planning and consultations with experienced people.  Maintaining relationships with like-minded people will be of assistance in getting feedback, in support and encouragement.

Along the way, you will have to make corrections, when things don’t go exactly as planned. The main thing is that you build momentum, and keep taking action, until your intended goal is realized or even surpassed!

Do not wander aimlessly.  Your journey is one with a purpose that requires you to take action!

How do you take those thousand steps to accomplish your desired goal?

First, consult with people who have already done what you want to do. Find out what steps they took to realize their dreams. You can learn so much from experienced people.  Not only can you learn what TO DO; you can learn what NOT to do!

Second, do your research! Purchase books and take courses that guide you step by step.  There are probably things you didn’t even know you need to consider in your planning process. The only way to know ahead of time is to do your research.

Third, is to visualize your way, from the end to the beginning.  That is, imagine you have already reached your goal, and then look back and visualize the steps it took to get there.

Sometimes you can get guidance and advice for free.  Other times, you have to pay for it. The main thing is to keep researching and asking—step by step. Your list of steps may get longer, but at least you know what you have to accomplish to reach your desired dreams.

Until later…
